At Lucent Recovery and Wellness, we built something different. We’re a clinician-owned, master’s-level Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) based in Austin, and we proudly serve adults who travel from Garland and the wider Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex to access a level of care they can’t find closer to home.
WHO WE SERVE: CONDITIONS WE TREAT
Our team works with adults experiencing a range of mental health and co-occurring challenges, including:
Who Comes to Us
Who We Typically See from Garland
Garland is a working city and the adults who reach us reflect that. A lot of night shifts and rotating schedules.

Why standard program hours miss a lot of people
One common night shift pattern, laid over a twenty four hour day.
On shift
Evening into overnight, often rotating.
Sleeping
Daytime rest, frequently interrupted.
Standard program hours
Landing squarely in the middle of that rest.
The schedule piece deserves more attention than it usually gets
Irregular sleep interacts with mood, anxiety, and substance use in ways that compound quietly over years.
Someone on nights for a decade may have been managing a genuine clinical condition the entire time while being told, and telling themselves, that they're just tired.
There's no prerequisite here
We also see people who have never had a mental health conversation with a professional in their life, not because they're opposed to it, but because nothing in their week ever made room for it.
You don't need to have tried therapy first.
You don't need language for what's happening.
What Is a Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?
An IOP offers a middle ground between weekly therapy and full-time residential care. It provides comprehensive support while allowing you to live at home and continue with everyday responsibilities.
Key Features:
Take the First Step
If you're in Garland and you're ready for care that's genuinely personalized, clinically rigorous, and built around your whole life, we'd love to talk. No referral is needed. Our team will work with you to verify your insurance and answer every question before you commit to anything.
Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the IOP program?
Most clients attend for 8 to 12 weeks, depending on their clinical needs and progress.
Can I keep working or going to school while in the program?
Yes. Our flexible scheduling is designed to accommodate your professional and personal responsibilities.
Do I need a referral to enroll?
No referral is needed. You can contact us directly for a confidential assessment.
Is the program covered by insurance?
Lucent Recovery accepts most major insurance plans. Our team will verify your coverage and walk you through the process before you start.
What makes Lucent different from Garland-area IOP programs?
Our master’s-level-only clinical team, small program size, holistic and experiential programming, LGBTQIA+ affirming care, and transitional housing for traveling clients set us apart from the larger hospital-based and franchise programs serving Garland and eastern Dallas County.
What happens after IOP?
After completing our IOP, many clients continue into our step-down transitional services or move to ongoing individual counseling or coaching with their clinician.
I work nights and sleep during the day. How does that affect treatment?
It’s worth naming early, because disrupted sleep and shift work interact with mood, anxiety, and substance use in ways that are easy to miss. Part of what we’d look at during your assessment is whether your schedule is contributing to what you’re experiencing. Stepping away from a rotating shift for the length of a program sometimes clarifies a great deal on its own.
What happens if I can't afford to be off work for two or three months?
This is a real constraint and we won’t pretend otherwise. Some clients use accrued paid leave, some qualify for short-term disability through their employer, and some work with us on scheduling that keeps part-time employment possible. We’d rather have a direct conversation about what’s financially workable than have you rule out care before asking.
Do you accept Medicaid or state-funded coverage?
Our team verifies benefits individually and will tell you plainly what your plan covers before you commit to anything. If we’re not a fit financially, we’ll say so. SAMHSA’s national helpline at 1-800-662-4357 is a free, confidential resource for finding treatment options in your area, and it operates around the clock.
