At Lucent Recovery and Wellness, we built something different. We’re a clinician-owned, master’s-level Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) based in Austin, and we proudly serve adults who travel from Plano and the wider Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex to access a level of care they can’t find closer to home.
WHO WE SERVE: CONDITIONS WE TREAT

Making the Trip from Plano to Austin
Plano sits at the north end of the metroplex, so figure a little over three hours to Austin by car. Most people take the tollway down to I-35 or run 121 to 35E. Flights from DFW or Love Field are short, though the drive is usually less hassle once you count airport time.

We set up housing before your first clinical day, so the week you begin treatment isn't also the week you're figuring out where you're sleeping.
What Is a Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?
An IOP offers a middle ground between weekly therapy and full-time residential care. It provides comprehensive support while allowing you to live at home and continue with everyday responsibilities.
Key Features:
Take the First Step
If you're in Plano and you're ready for care that's genuinely personalized, clinically rigorous, and built around your whole life, we'd love to talk. No referral is needed. Our team will work with you to verify your insurance and answer every question before you commit to anything.
Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the IOP program?
Most clients attend for 8 to 12 weeks, depending on their clinical needs and progress.
Can I keep working or going to school while in the program?
Yes. Our flexible scheduling is designed to accommodate your professional and personal responsibilities.
Do I need a referral to enroll?
No referral is needed. You can contact us directly for a confidential assessment.
Is the program covered by insurance?
Lucent Recovery accepts most major insurance plans. Our team will verify your coverage and walk you through the process before you start.
What makes Lucent different from Plano-area IOP programs?
Our master’s-level-only clinical team, small program size, holistic and experiential programming, LGBTQIA+ affirming care, and transitional housing for traveling clients set us apart from the larger hospital-based and franchise programs serving Plano and Collin County.
What happens after IOP?
After completing our IOP, many clients continue into our step-down transitional services or move to ongoing individual counseling or coaching with their clinician.
I have school-age kids at home. How do families usually handle a parent being away for treatment?
Carefully, and with a plan. Most families arrange coverage the same way they would for an extended work trip or a medical procedure, leaning on a partner, grandparents, or close friends. We talk through this during the assessment because a plan you feel good about makes it far easier to actually engage in treatment. Our what to expect for families page walks through what the experience looks like from their side.
I relocated to Plano recently and my doctors are still in another state. Does that complicate anything?
Not significantly. We’ll ask for whatever records and prescriber information you can provide, and our team handles coordination from there. Plenty of the people we work with are in exactly this position, mid-transition and without an established local care network.
How do I explain a two or three month absence at work?
You don’t owe your employer a diagnosis. Most people describe it as a medical leave, which is accurate. Depending on your tenure and employer size you may have protections under FMLA or your company’s own leave policy. Our case management team helps clients gather the documentation those processes typically require.
