At Lucent Recovery and Wellness, we built something different. We’re a clinician-owned, master’s-level Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) based in Austin, and we proudly serve adults who travel from Arlington and the wider Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex to access a level of care they can’t find closer to home.
WHO WE SERVE: CONDITIONS WE TREAT
Our team works with adults experiencing a range of mental health and co-occurring challenges, including:
Getting Here
Making the Trip from Arlington to Austin
Arlington to Austin is roughly three hours by car down I-35W, which merges into I-35 south of Fort Worth. If you're flying, DFW is about twenty five minutes away and flights run under an hour.

The real barrier
For Arlington, transportation isn't a footnote
We spend more time on this question with Arlington clients than most, because getting there is often the actual obstacle.
- Arlington has no fixed-route public bus system.
- Reliable access to a car isn't a given, and many households share one.
- A local IOP can require nine to twelve trips a month.
What changes
Transitional housing changes that equation
One trip down, one trip back. In between, you're within reach of programming without needing a vehicle every day.
- Two trips total instead of dozens.
- No daily vehicle required once you're here.
- Housing arranged before your first clinical day.
If getting here at all is the obstacle, tell us during your first call. It's a solvable problem more often than people expect.
What Is a Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?
An IOP offers a middle ground between weekly therapy and full-time residential care. It provides comprehensive support while allowing you to live at home and continue with everyday responsibilities.
Key Features:
Take the First Step
If you're in Arlington and you're ready for care that's genuinely personalized, clinically rigorous, and built around your whole life, we'd love to talk. No referral is needed. Our team will work with you to verify your insurance and answer every question before you commit to anything.
Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the IOP program?
Most clients attend for 8 to 12 weeks, depending on their clinical needs and progress.
Can I keep working or going to school while in the program?
Yes. Our flexible scheduling is designed to accommodate your professional and personal responsibilities.
Do I need a referral to enroll?
No referral is needed. You can contact us directly for a confidential assessment.
Is the program covered by insurance?
Lucent Recovery accepts most major insurance plans. Our team will verify your coverage and walk you through the process before you start.
What makes Lucent different from Arlington-area IOP programs?
Our master’s-level-only clinical team, small program size, holistic and experiential programming, LGBTQIA+ affirming care, and transitional housing for traveling clients set us apart from the larger hospital-based and franchise programs serving Arlington and the mid-cities.
What happens after IOP?
After completing our IOP, many clients continue into our step-down transitional services or move to ongoing individual counseling or coaching with their clinician.
I don't drive, or I share one car with my family. Is this program realistic for me?
It can be. This is exactly the situation transitional housing was built for. Instead of arranging transportation several times a week for two or three months, you make one trip to Austin and stay in structured housing close to programming. Our case management team will work through the specifics with you during the assessment.
Is Austin actually further away than a program in Dallas or Fort Worth, in practical terms?
In miles, obviously yes. In hours spent traveling over the course of a full program, often no. A local IOP can mean nine or twelve round trips a month through DFW traffic. Coming to Austin and staying here means two trips total. We’d rather you run those numbers honestly than take our word for it.
I'm a student at UTA. Can I do this without dropping out?
Possibly, depending on your program and your course load. Many universities have medical withdrawal and leave of absence policies that protect your standing, and some students schedule treatment between terms. Our case management team can help you gather what your school’s office needs, though the academic decision is between you and your advisor.
